AirAsia launches agriculture e-commerce platform ‘OurFarm’ to help farmers

AirAsia has recently launched ‘OurFarm’, an e-commerce platform in order to enable farmers to connect directly with businesses, eliminate the middlemen costs and boost their income.

This business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform would revolutionise the agribusiness supply chain, according to the company.

The e-platform was launched by the Malaysian Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, AirAsia Group Executive Chairman Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and AirAsia Group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes at the Serdang Agriculture Department.

Established as a strategic partnership with Malaysia’s Ministry of Agriculture, it supports over 1,000 government contract farmers as well as private farm owners.

“Ourfarm will help increase the profit margin of agriculture producers by eliminating the middleman cost. This platform provides a more efficient supply chain management system which supports the food security agenda of the nation,” AirAsia Group’s Executive Chairman Datuk Kamarudin Meranun said.

It is worth noting that the platform’s last-mile solution would be powered by the AirAsia Group’s logistics arm.

In addition, OURFARM will also provide other benefits like credit terms in order to provide support to business buyers and the ability to reduce wastage as purchasers can scale their purchase volume as per their actual needs through the website.
