India: Food and beverages giant PepsiCo increases investment at snacks plant to Rs 814 crore

Despite short-term headwinds due to the COVID-19 outbreak, PepsiCo is increasing investment at its new greenfield snacks plant in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh to ₹814 crore in order to meet increasing demand.
“While there have been some short-term headwinds due to COVID-19, we at PepsiCo are extremely optimistic about the future and are committed to provide consumers the right portfolio of products across food and beverages,” the company’s India President Ahmed ElSheikh told the Press Trust of India.
Committed to double its business from snacks business in India, the snack food giant has increased the existing capacity of food plants in the states of West Bengal and Maharashtra.
In addition, it has proposed to set up a greenfield manufacturing facility in the state of Assam.
