Government plans to create roadmap for distribution of fortified rice

The food ministry of India will set up a guide for fortification of rice in meeting with state governments and different stakeholders to handle ailing health in the nation, the legislature said on Friday. The decision was taken at a gathering of Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar here.

Kumar talked about the progressing rice fortress pilot conspire and the different execution issues with Paswan and senior authorities of the service, an official explanation said. It further read, “During the meeting it was decided that for effectively tackling the problem of malnutrition in India, a roadmap will be charted out by the Department of Food and Public Distribution for taking the pilot scheme of Rice Fortification Pan India.” All state government departments and other stakeholders would also be consulted, the statement further concluded.

The government, in February this year, had endorsed focus supported pilot conspire on “Fortification of Rice and its Distribution under Public Distribution System”.
