Indian Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said the government’s willingness to amend the farm laws shouldn’t be construed as a realisation that the legislations are flawed, adding the “farmers are being misled” and that “people in a particular state are misinformed”.
The minister challenged the Opposition parties to point out any provision in the law that allows ‘snatching away’ the farmers’ land rights by traders.
The agriculture minister stated the Indian government is committed to the continuation of the mandi system based on MSP and the welfare of farmers.
