To ramp up agricultural production and collection, the Indian state of Assam has decided to set up 100 Farmers’ Producers Companies (FPCs) in the state.

This move will also ensure seamless linkage with the national and international markets.

Assam’s Chief Minister instructed the authorities to set up at least one seed distribution centre in every district. He also asked the department to provide a combined harvester to each assembly constituency in the state in order to augment farm mechanization activities.

The state’s agriculture department may also tie-up with Assam Start-up Incubation Centre in order to provide better market linkage to the growers to sell their produce, according to sources.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also stressed on having better coordination among the stakeholders and agri-related departments.
