Four-day symposium discusses Pakistan’s agricultural challenges

UK-Pakistan Science Innovation Global Network (UPSIGN), a Britain-based charitable network of academics and professionals, has organized a symposium focusing on Pakistan’s challenges to discuss the need to adopt climate-smart farming which needs less water and is resistant to pests and diseases.

As per the Pakistan High Commission, Acting High Commissioner for Pakistan Muhammad Ayub launched UPSIGN Pakistan challenges-related 4-day symposium.

Day 1 theme was “Nourish, Grow and Sustain together.” UPSIGN agri-food co-lead Dr Mahmood underlined the need for a systems-approach to address food insecurity and malnutrition.

The panelists discussed several issues, including climate-smart agriculture, use of digital technologies and the role of women in agriculture production among others.
