Every year on March 22, World Water Day is celebrated globally, making people aware of the importance of freshwater. This year’s theme is ‘Valuing water’.

Initiated in 1993, this day aims to focus on the importance of water and need to preserve it.

“Access to water is a defence against ill-health, indignity and the challenges derived from the climate crisis. This #WorldWaterDay, let’s commit to intensifying global efforts so all may have equitable access to this most precious resource,” said the UN Chief António Guterrres.

As we know, damaged ecosystems act as an obstacle in making the quantity and quality of water available for human consumption.

Today, some 2.2 billion people live without access to safe drinking water at home that consequently affects their health, education as well as livelihoods.

Thus, this day is all about thinking and taking effective actions to tackle the worldwide water crisis.
