Former Ireland rugby captain Rory Best trials agri-technology: Here’s what we know so far
In order to tackle agri-export challenges after Brexit, former Ulster and Ireland rugby star Rory Best has trialled technology, involving the continuous monitoring of an animal from birth through to slaughter, coupled with smart technology.
As exporters grapple with change owing to the EU withdrawal, it will be rolled out to about 200 farms in Northern Ireland.
“Former Ulster and Ireland rugby captain Rory Best agreed to bring the trial onto the pedigree Aberdeen Angus farm that he and his father run, continuing on the grazing field the data-driven attention to detail that he brought to the sports field,” the company behind the venture said.
As per media reports, a new platform named “NSF Verify” is also being tested to ensure the authenticity and integrity of agri-food supply chains.
