In a major development, a team of Agricultural Research Service (ARS) scientists have released the first complete genome of the Asian giant hornet to provide researchers with the necessary information to help them coordinate an effective response.

Ranging from 1.5 to 2 inches long, Asian giant hornets are one of the largest wasps in the world. Their native range generally extends from northern India to East Asia.

To recall, Asian giant hornets attack honey bee colonies during the late summer and early fall.
