Within a month, the Myanmar government has reserved about 2,200 tonnes of rice, according to an official statement released by the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).

The Ministry of Commerce, MITS (Myanmar Inspection and Testing Service), and MRF have implemented the rice reserve scheme since 30 April.

As of 27 May, the state has purchased about 2,200 tonnes of rice from around 80 companies in line with the set rules and regulations.

MITS, the state’s authorized organization, is mandated to inspect and verify the quality and quantity of rice.

It is worth noting that Myanmar has the rice reserve scheme for emergency case. Myanmar intends to ship over 2 million tonnes of rice in the current financial year, according to the MRF.
