Next week, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is planning to hold a meeting with local soy farmers in order to discuss the increase in prices of the soybean futures which soared to their highest prices since March 2018.
Bolsonaro said he will rely on the country’s Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina Dias to arrange the meeting with farmers.
“We are not going to regulate, we are not going to interfere in anything,” Bolsonaro said, adding it is a free market.
In the South American country, the price of soy reached a record high of $28.78 per bag this week amid the prevalence of drought and a weak currency.
