Plants are grown by using a nutrient-rich solution in a hydroponics system. Soil is not used, and plants are supported by substances such as perlite. Therefore, that hydroponic solution should be changed usually around every two weeks. Over-accumulation of bacteria, fungi, and nutrients can be avoided by it.

Types of hydroponics systems

Deepwater culture, Nutrient film technique, Aeroponics, Wicking, and Drip systems are the main types of hydroponics systems. The easiest type of hydroponic system is Deepwater culture. It can be built and maintained in households. The plant’s roots are submerged directly in nutrient-rich water. Plants can be grown in large opaque storage containers/buckets when deep water culture is used by home growers. But Nutrient film technique is the most reliable method. Easy fundamentals are available. Plant roots are contacted directly with flowing nutrient solutions. That is the important feature of the Nutrient film technique.

Advantages of hydroponic system

Harvesting can be done in less time. Soil-borne diseases can be avoided, the soil is not used. Crops become healthy, and the crop can absorb nutrients easily.

Disadvantages of hydroponic system

This is a very expensive method. And also, it is vulnerable to power outages. Constant monitoring and maintenance are required. Water-borne diseases can happen. Plants are quickly affected by problems.
