Affinity Water and Cambridge Water have made an announcement to work with 18 farms using a cover crop scheme, across 800 hectares in 2020-21 in the United Kingdom.

The project aims to capture over 37 tonnes of nitrate which otherwise leaches into the chalk aquifers that are used to supply drinking water.

In 2019-20, the water companies worked with more than 10 farms in North Hertfordshire and South Cambridgeshire in order to fund the capture of 24 tonnes of nitrate from roughly 485 hectares of land.
