India allows exports of Krishnapuram, Bangalore Rose onions
Till March 31, 2021, the Indian government permitted the export of Krishnapuram onions and Bangalore Rose onions up to a quantity of 10,000 metric tons each, adding that onions will be only exported through the Chennai port.

It is to be noted that Bangalore Rose onions are mainly grown in Bengaluru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur specifically for export. Similarly, Krishnapuram onions are in heavy demand in several Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) also issued a notification with respect to the same.
