Bangladesh: Banks directed to postpone loan recoveries from flood-hit farmers
Bangladesh Bank, the country’s central bank, has directed all banks to postpone the recovery of loans from farmers who have been adversely affected by floods until the situation improves.
The apex regulatory body has also ordered disbursement of new farm loans where crops have been damaged by the deluge.
It asked the banks to encourage certain projects of the farmers for their rehabilitation. The banks will have to inform the central bank about the progress in implementing the orders by October 31.
