Intensive control operations significantly reduced locust infestations in India, Pakistan: FAO

Intensive control operations in India and Pakistan have significantly lowered locust infestations in both nations, said Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in its latest advisory.

As a result, the second generation of breeding is likely to be on a much smaller and more manageable scale.

Dr K L Gurjar, deputy director at Locust Warning Organization at Jodhpur said it is a “big relief” to the country which is facing threat of locust attacks since the past one and half year.
