To boost agricultural production, Indonesian Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo outlined the government’s four strategies – extensification of swamps, organizing local food supply, building food granaries and developing food estates.

In light of FAO’s advice about the striking drought threat in the future, the country’s government will optimize the land that contains water. In addition, food granaries will help ensuring the supply for the people.

Also, the government is planning to promote substitutes for rice as staple foods. Developing food estates in several places with modern farming approach or smart agriculture is also on the cards.
