In a major initiative to tackle marine litter, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has joined hands with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and 30 countries

The GloLitter Partnerships Project is being implemented by the UN food agency in collaboration with the IMO, with initial funding from the Government of Norway.

With an aim to reduce the use of plastics and identify opportunities to recycle plastics,
the project will better protect the fragile marine environment, as well as lives and livelihoods in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14.
