CANCUN, Mexico, March 26, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Committed to conservation, Sunset World Group takes decisive actions to raise awareness about environmental issues among its members, guests and employees. This year the company will once again participate in the “Earth Hour” initiative, with ecological activities that will take place all day next Saturday, March 26 at its six hotels in Cancun and the Riviera Maya.

The Memory Maker teams at Sunset World Group hotels have prepared comprehensive activity programs for children and adults that will include beach clean-ups, planting plants and trees, workshops to reuse and recycle objects, ecological games and shows related to ecology. The hotels lights will be turned off from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, just like all the buildings in the world that join the cause. During this time members and guests will enjoy fun outdoor activities.

It is worth mentioning that, in addition to joining initiatives such as “Earth Hour”, in 2014 Sunset World Group started an Energy Efficiency Program, substituting supply technologies in its six hotels, which has considerably reduced its carbon footprint. In addition, as of February 2020, all its hotels are supplied with mainly clean and renewable energy, which is produced at Mexican wind farms and geothermal plants.

“Earth Hour” began in Sydney in 2007 as a symbolic gesture to draw attention to the problem of climate change. It consists of turning off the lights in buildings and monuments for one hour. This gesture is intended to remind us that nature is the life support system of the planet, that it provides us with everything we need and that we must defend it in order to safeguard the health of our planet and, in turn, our own health and well-being.
