The Siemon Company announces its formal commitment to set near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions in line with science-based net-zero with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

WATERTOWN, Conn., Oct. 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The Siemon Company, a leading global network infrastructure specialist, is proud to announce its formal commitment to set near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions in line with science-based net-zero with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

These emission reduction targets were developed in accordance with a number of key global climate change goals and initiatives, including the Business Ambition for 1.5°C and the UNFCCC Race to Zero campaign. Combined, these programs aim to limit warming to 1.5°C, halve global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Encompassing all the company’s global operations, Siemon’s commitment is driven by a longstanding tradition of progressive environmental stewardship. “Committing to the SBTi’s aggressive reduction targets is a natural step for us”, explained John Siemon, the company’s Chief Technology Officer. “The terminology, scope, and science of sustainability has certainly evolved in Siemon’s 120-year history, but we have always focused on the simple goal of limiting our impact on the environment. Carbon emissions clearly impact the environment, so cutting them is simply what we at Siemon will do – and we believe that our 1.5°C and net-zero commitments provide an incredibly impactful target to guide our efforts.”

Siemon is also devoted to working with its customers and suppliers to encourage and support their efforts to reduce GHG emissions and waste through a holistic approach to environmentally responsible product life cycle and supply chain management. “While we firmly believe that committing to SBTi targets should be a central pillar of any company’s sustainability efforts, any action to cut emissions, reduce waste, or save energy is a step in the right direction,” John Siemon explained. “A rising tide floats all ships, and the more organizations we have taking action, the faster we will all dramatically reduce our environmental impact.”
