Indian govt invites input from stakeholders on ‘National Fisheries Policy’

A ‘National Fisheries Policy 2020’ has been made and placed in the public domain, inviting valuable inputs from all stakeholders, the Indian government informed Parliament.

Minister of State for Fisheries Pratab Chandra Sarangi said the draft policy provides guiding principles, strategies and a roadmap towards sustainable development of the fisheries sector in the nation for the next decade.

According to experts, India’s long coastline has the potential of becoming the strength of the nation’s economy especially through leveraging the Blue Revolution.
