FAO and Russian Federation join hands to combat the desert locust upsurge

To eliminate desert locusts in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Russian Federation have signed a $10 million Contribution Agreement.

It is to be noted here that East Africa is experiencing its largest invasion of desert locusts in decades. Often targeting food crops and forage, desert locusts pose a major threat to food security and rural livelihoods.
