The latest figures released by the government show that the extremely wet autumn and winter of 2019 along with the last year’s spring drought affected income levels.

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the agri-industry is also expected to be a crucial factor, DEFRA noted, with the average farm business income is likely to fall with lower yields.

To support the UK’s preparedness for the end of the transition period, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has launched a £300,000 fund for local officials to boost the number of vets that’re qualified to certify products of animal origin and equines for export.

From next year, an Export Health Certificate (EHC) will be needed to export to the EU. It should be mentioned here that EHC is a document that confirms an export of live animals/animal products meets health requirements.

Either Official Veterinarians or Food Competent Certifying Officers will certify the health documentation.
