According to new climate finance data, about 31 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were reduced worldwide in the last 9 years as a result of UK intervention.
It should be mentioned here that the UK International Climate Finance (ICF) investments aim to lower poverty by helping emerging economies build resilience and manage the risks of climate change as developing countries are the hardest hit by climate change.
The results of the latest study show that since 2011, UK aid investment has:
• Provided nearly 33 million people with improved access to clean energy
• Helped over 65 million people to cope with the effects of climate change
• Installed 2000 MW of clean energy capacity
• Leveraged around £2.2 billion of private finance to tackle climate change
