Here’s all you need to know about Innovate UK’s £2 million fund to support knowledge transfer partnerships in farming

To promote knowledge transfer partnerships between British researchers and businesses based in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya or South Africa, Innovate UK has up to £2 million from the Global Challenges Research Fund. The last date of competition is 28 October 2020.
Partnerships have to show they are able to showcase a positive effect on poverty through the adoption of innovative technology in farming and food systems. Work could be carried out in one or more of the following areas:
• Addressing challenges in downstream food processing, distribution, or storage and adding value
• Integration of smallholders into global supply chains
• Enhancing the value of production to smallholders
• Pests, weeds, and diseases control
• Meeting quality standards and improving productivity
• New food technologies
• Any kind of innovation that supports food systems to deliver nutritious, healthy and safe food
• Reducing food loss ‘post-farm gate’ and throughout the value chain
• Addressing food safety issues
