The United Kingdom might witness a ‘significant rise’ in fresh food prices even if the government manages to secure a deal with the European Union, the London School of Economics (LSE) said.
As per the report, the food sector and consumers on both sides will be adversely affected without practical action by the British government and EU.
The report adds that higher trade tariffs and the new non-tariff barriers, including increased paperwork and customs checks will have a significant impact, with the price of food is likely to go up.
