As per the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) latest notification, low-income Iowa residents recovering from the effects of the derecho storm could be eligible for help under the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP).
Households who may not normally be eligible under regular SNAP rules may qualify for D-SNAP provided they meet the disaster income limits and have qualifying disaster-related expenses.
“The D-SNAP program USDA is announcing today is an important step forward for Iowans. It will provide the continued support our neighbours in Iowa need, as they get back on their feet after this devastating storm,” Secretary Perdue said.
